Kogi State, June 2026 – Troops of the Nigerian Army under the 12 Brigade, 2 Division have successfully rescued five kidnapped victims in Kogi State during ongoing counter-terrorism operations aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts across the region.

The victims were reportedly abandoned by fleeing terrorists following sustained military pressure involving coordinated ground maneuvers and air support operations targeting identified criminal enclaves.

Military authorities confirmed that the rescued individuals were immediately evacuated to a safe location, where they received medical attention and underwent debriefing procedures to assist ongoing intelligence efforts.

The Commander of 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, commended the troops for their courage, discipline, and operational efficiency, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in Kogi State and surrounding areas.

He emphasized that the military will continue to intensify operations against armed groups, kidnappers, and other criminal elements until lasting stability is achieved.

Security analysts note that sustained pressure from joint security offensives has continued to degrade the operational capacity of criminal networks operating within the North Central region.
