The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has earned widespread commendation for presenting what many party stakeholders describe as one of the strongest, most formidable and balanced political candidates ahead of the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria. The commendations followed the formal presentation of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination forms to the party’s governorship and National Assembly candidates by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The presentation, held at the Government House in Gombe, marked the successful conclusion of the APC’s internal nomination process and the commencement of the legal phase of candidate submission to INEC, in line with the Electoral Act and the Commission’s guidelines.
At the ceremony, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya officially presented the nomination forms to the APC Governorship Candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, whose emergence at the party’s primary election reflected the overwhelming confidence reposed in him by party members across the state.
The Governor also presented nomination forms to the party’s senatorial candidates, namely Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for Gombe North Senatorial District, DCP Mohammed Ahmadu Jarman Deba (Rtd.) for Gombe Central Senatorial District, and Hon. Jerry Joseph Damara for Gombe South Senatorial District.
Similarly, the APC House of Representatives candidates, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo (Akko), Hon. Ali Isa JC (Balanga/Billiri), Hon. Fatima Binta Bello (Kaltungo/Shongom), Hon. Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu/Deba), Hon. Sadam Bello (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye), and Hon. Jamilu Shabewa (Dukku/Nafada), received their nomination forms, completing the party’s candidate lineup for the 2027 elections.
Political observers have described the APC ticket as a blend of experience, competence, youthfulness, grassroots acceptability and proven leadership. They note that the party has assembled individuals with impressive records in public service, community development, security, governance, business and legislative affairs.
Particular attention has been drawn to the emergence of DCP Mohammed Ahmadu Jarman Deba (Rtd.), whose distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force, combined with his extensive philanthropic interventions in education, rural electrification, youth empowerment, healthcare and community development, has earned him admiration across Gombe Central. His candidacy is widely viewed as a demonstration of the APC’s resolve to reward competence, loyalty and service.
Speaking during the presentation, Governor Inuwa Yahaya congratulated all the candidates for earning the confidence of the party through a transparent democratic process. He urged them to regard their emergence not as a personal achievement but as a call to greater sacrifice, responsible leadership and dedicated service to the people.
The Governor explained that the issuance of the INEC nomination forms represents another critical milestone in the electoral process, noting that all completed nomination documents and supporting credentials would be uploaded to the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal within the stipulated timeframe.
He further charged the candidates to remain united, disciplined and committed to grassroots engagement, stressing that party cohesion and sustained interaction with the electorate would remain essential ingredients for victory at the polls.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed confidence that the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, alongside the National Assembly candidates, possesses the vision, integrity, competence and capacity required to effectively represent the aspirations of the people of Gombe State.
The successful conclusion of the APC nomination process has been described by political stakeholders as another demonstration of the party’s organisational strength and internal stability. With an experienced governorship candidate, accomplished National Assembly flag bearers and a formidable House of Representatives team, many observers believe the APC has positioned itself strongly for the next electoral contest.
