…NFF, World Soccer Legends Organisers Intensify Preparations for 2026 War Against Cancer International Charity Match

Friday, 25th June, 2026 – Abuja, Nigeria – Preparations for the World Soccer Legends War Against Cancer International Charity Football Match Nigeria 2026 received a major boost as members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) held a high-level strategic meeting with the General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, at the NFF Headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting, held on Friday, 25 June 2026, focused on finalising work plans and strengthening collaboration ahead of the international charity football event scheduled for Saturday, 3 October 2026, as part of activities marking World Cancer Month 2026.
During the engagement, both parties reviewed critical areas of planning, including logistics, technical coordination, security, publicity, protocol, international participation, and stakeholder engagement, with the shared objective of delivering a world-class charity football spectacle that will raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and support for patients.
The organisers noted that the charity match is expected to feature renowned football legends from Nigeria and across the world, bringing together iconic figures in the sport to promote a humanitarian cause while using football as a platform to inspire hope, encourage healthy living, and mobilise support for the fight against cancer.
Dr. Mohammed Sanusi reaffirmed the Nigeria Football Federation’s commitment to supporting initiatives that combine sports with social impact, emphasizing that football remains one of the most powerful tools for public awareness, national unity, and community development.
Members of the Main Organising Committee expressed appreciation to the NFF leadership for its support and strategic partnership, describing the Federation’s involvement as vital to the successful hosting of the international charity match.
The committee also disclosed that additional stakeholder engagements and promotional activities will continue in the months leading up to the event to ensure broad participation by government institutions, corporate organisations, development partners, football stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and the general public.
