FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has ordered the immediate stoppage of the use of Abuja’s designated green areas, parks and gardens as car dealership lots, including spaces around recreational areas such as Millennium Park. A task force has been established to enforce the directive.
The move comes amid renewed concerns over flooding in parts of Abuja. Wike has also ordered an investigation into FCT officials alleged to have approved the conversion of protected green spaces for commercial use. The message is clear: Abuja’s master plan, environmental spaces and drainage resilience must not be sacrificed for short-term commercial interests.
