Hon. Ifeanyi Chinweze has emerged victorious in the Anambra East Local Government Area Chairmanship Election, vindicating the confidence reposed in him by prominent community leader and former President-General of Umueri General Assembly, Amb. Dr. John Metchie, who had strongly endorsed his re-election before the polls.
The LGA became the only local government where there was another contender from the YPP. So, before the election, Metchie had declared that Chinweze had no serious rival in Anambra East, insisting that the incumbent chairman deserved another mandate to consolidate on what he described as the remarkable transformation taking place across the council area.
Now, with the election concluded and Chinweze declared winner, the endorsement has been followed by a resounding electoral victory.
Reacting to the outcome, Metchie expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra East for aligning with his call and returning Chinweze to office. He described the result as a clear demonstration that the people had recognised the developmental efforts, peace-building initiatives and leadership Chinweze brought to the local government.
Metchie particularly thanked the electorate for standing by what he described as the principle that good performance deserves continuity.
According to him, the re-election of Chinweze gives the chairman a fresh opportunity to consolidate on his administration’s efforts in promoting peace, resolving disputes, strengthening security, improving infrastructure and supporting development initiatives across communities in Anambra East.
For Metchie, the victory is not merely a personal triumph for Chinweze but a collective decision by the people of Anambra East to reward performance with another mandate.
The former Umueri President-General therefore congratulated Hon. Chinweze on his victory and thanked the people of Anambra East for what he described as their wise, democratic decision.
With the people having spoken at the polls, Ifeanyi Chinweze’s victory has now turned Metchie’s pre-election endorsement into a political prediction fulfilled.
