Sokoto — Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, at his palace in Sokoto State, in an engagement that highlighted the enduring relationship between the Federal Government and Nigeria’s traditional institutions.
The visit, which took place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, formed part of the First Lady’s official engagements in the state and was marked by a warm traditional reception from the Sultanate Council, the Sokoto State Government, and community leaders.
Appreciation for Sultan’s Counsel and National Role
During the visit, Senator Tinubu expressed appreciation to the Sultan for his continued prayers, guidance, and support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The First Lady was received in Sokoto by Governor Dr Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, alongside senior government officials, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries.
The governor praised Senator Tinubu’s humanitarian initiatives, particularly programmes under the Renewed Hope Initiative, which focuses on supporting vulnerable groups, women, children, and young Nigerians through empowerment and social intervention programmes.
