The Federal Government has intensified efforts to strengthen public communication on security and national development initiatives through enhanced collaboration among key ministries.

The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, held a strategic meeting with the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, at the Ministry of Interior headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting focused on strengthening inter-ministerial coordination to ensure effective communication of government policies and security initiatives to the Nigerian public.

Unified Communication Strategy

Speaking during the engagement, Minister Idris emphasized the need for a unified communication framework that will enhance coordination of security-related actions across government institutions.

According to him, improved communication will play a critical role in the ongoing fight against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats by ensuring that citizens receive accurate, timely, and credible information.

He noted that clear and coordinated messaging from government agencies would also strengthen public confidence in national security operations and development programmes.

Interior Ministry Reforms

Officials of the Ministry of Interior used the meeting to highlight several reforms currently being implemented to improve service delivery and strengthen national security management.

Among the initiatives discussed were efforts to clear the passport application backlog, the introduction of contactless passport services, and the deployment of advanced border management technologies.

The ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to the modernisation of immigration processes across the country to enhance efficiency and improve border security.

Strengthening National Coordination

Observers say the renewed collaboration between the Ministries of Information and Interior reflects the Federal Government’s broader strategy to improve policy coordination and ensure that national security efforts are effectively communicated to the public.

Officials expressed optimism that stronger institutional cooperation will help improve transparency, enhance public awareness of government initiatives, and support the overall fight against insecurity in Nigeria.
