Abuja — Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, has lost his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, who passed away at the age of 89.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former minister’s mother, describing her as a woman of strong faith, humility and remarkable commitment to family and humanity.
In a condolence message, President Tinubu acknowledged Dame Amaechi’s dedication to the Catholic faith, her exemplary family values and her role in raising children who have contributed to public service and society.
The President said the late matriarch’s life was defined by love, sacrifice, kindness and perseverance, virtues which earned her respect among those who encountered her.
“My heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity,” President Tinubu stated.
President Tinubu urged the Amaechi family to take comfort in the enduring legacy of faith, dignity and service which Dame Amaechi left behind for her children, the Church and the wider society.
He prayed for the repose of her soul and for strength and comfort for the bereaved family during the period of mourning.
Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi’s death has attracted condolences from political leaders, religious groups and well-wishers who have continued to pay tribute to her life as a mother, devoted Catholic and pillar of family values.
