AWC AVIATION DESK, AUGUST 2026
Nigeria and the Lufthansa Group are moving to deepen aviation cooperation as both sides begin efforts to review and update the existing Nigeria–Germany Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA).
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, received a delegation from Lufthansa Group in Abuja, where discussions focused on strengthening aviation relations and expanding the airline group’s operations and opportunities in Nigeria.
A major outcome of the meeting was the agreement to commence work on reviewing and ratifying the BASA signed by Nigeria and Germany in 2010, with the proposed update expected to reflect current realities and emerging developments in the global aviation industry.
The move signals renewed momentum in Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen international air connectivity, attract greater airline investment and position the country’s aviation sector for increased growth and competitiveness.
