ABUJA — The Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s road network, describing the ongoing projects across the country as a testament to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at a recent engagement highlighted by the Presidency, Goronyo praised the President’s “infrastructure-first” posture, noting that the strategic focus on high-impact road projects is designed to unlock economic potential and enhance national security.

Highlights of the Minister’s Address:
Commendation for David Umahi: Goronyo lauded the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for his innovative leadership and the introduction of new technologies—including concrete road pavement—to ensure the durability of Nigerian highways.

Legacy Projects: He emphasized the progress of major corridors such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, which aim to bridge the gap between Nigeria’s maritime hubs and the hinterland.

Call for Patience: While acknowledging the temporary inconveniences caused by widespread construction, the Minister thanked Nigerians for their patience and assured them that the ministry is working tirelessly to meet project deadlines.

“President Tinubu is passionate about providing Nigerians with qualitative, durable roads. These achievements are not happening in isolation; they are part of a deliberate plan to make transportation seamless and economical for all.”

Impact on National Development
The Ministry of Works is currently managing over 2,000 ongoing projects nationwide. Officials state that the synergy between the presidency and the ministry has led to unprecedented milestones in road infrastructure, which remains a key enabler for the administration’s goals in agriculture, trade, and industrialization.

The Minister concluded by urging stakeholders and host communities to protect road infrastructure from vandalism, stressing that collective ownership is essential to maintaining the nation’s “Renewed Hope” assets.
