Abuja, April 26, 2026 — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has recorded a series of major breakthroughs in its nationwide anti-drug operations, including the interception of the dangerous terror-linked drug Captagon in Kwara State and the arrest of multiple suspects across the country.
Captagon Interception Raises Security Concerns
Operatives intercepted 10,000 pills of Captagon along Bode Saadu road in Kwara State, arresting a suspect, Nasiru Mu’azu. The highly addictive amphetamine—often linked to terrorist groups—has been described as a “combat stimulant” capable of inducing fearlessness and prolonged wakefulness.
Chairman of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, warned that traffickers are attempting to re-establish supply routes, vowing that the agency will ensure the drug “finds no foothold in Nigeria.”
Major Drug Busts Across States
In a related operation in Kwara, NDLEA officers intercepted a trailer loaded with:
155,900 tramadol capsules
6,000 tramadol injections
3,000 Co-codamol tablets
9,000 Bromazepam tablets
The drugs were hidden in a false compartment, with a suspect, Aminu Isah, arrested.
Businessman Excretes Cocaine Pellets
In Oyo State, a suspected trafficker, Eze Prince Emeka, was arrested after a body scan confirmed drug ingestion. He later excreted 45 wraps of cocaine (1.043kg).
Investigations revealed the suspect planned to smuggle the drugs عبر trans-Saharan routes to Europe, evading airport detection.
Other Significant Seizures
Edo State: 1.1 million opioid pills recovered; two suspects arrested
Niger State: 394 components for improvised explosive devices (IEDs) intercepted
Lagos: 810kg of cannabis recovered at Mile 2
Bauchi: 154.5kg of skunk seized
Ekiti: 466.8kg of skunk recovered from a residence
Cross River: 20,000kg of cannabis destroyed on farmland during a joint operation
War Against Drug Abuse Intensifies
Beyond enforcement, NDLEA continues its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, carrying out sensitization programmes in schools, communities, and religious centres nationwide.
Marwa Commends Operatives
NDLEA boss Mohamed Marwa praised officers across affected states for their tactical precision and sustained pressure on drug networks, noting that the operations are disrupting both criminal enterprises and potential security threats.
“We are not just seizing drugs; we are cutting off the fuel that powers violence,” he stated.
Security experts say the interception of Captagon and explosive materials underscores the growing nexus between drug trafficking and insecurity, reinforcing the need for continued vigilance.
The latest operations highlight NDLEA’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, with significant seizures dealing a major blow to criminal and terror-linked networks across Nigeria.
