Shettima Consoles Kwara Communities, Assures Swift Security and Relief Response
Vice President Kashim Shettima last Saturday led a high-powered Federal Government of Nigeria delegation to Nuku and Woro communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, offering condolences to residents affected by the deadly terrorist attacks of February 3, 2026, and reaffirming the nation’s resolve to restore peace.
Representing the President, the Vice President conveyed deep sympathies to grieving families and the wider Kwara community, stressing that decisive steps were already underway to stabilise the area. He assured residents that security operations were being intensified, while sensitive operational details would remain undisclosed in the interest of effectiveness.
As part of immediate response measures, an Army battalion has been deployed to Kaiama, while emergency relief efforts are being coordinated by the National Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency to support displaced and affected persons.
The condolence visit drew senior public officials and leaders, including the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar; Senator Ali Mohammed Ndume; Managing Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company Ltd, Engr. Jennifer Adighije; former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; and members of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, alongside the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area and the Emir of Kaiama, commended the prompt intervention by federal authorities and security agencies, noting that troops were already on ground and coordinated operations had commenced.
The visit underscored the government’s commitment to crisis response, community welfare, and long-term security restoration, as residents were urged to remain calm and supportive of ongoing efforts to return normalcy to the affected communities.
