The Federal Government of Nigeria has formally presented Letters of Credence to newly appointed ambassador-designates, signaling a renewed push to strengthen the country’s diplomatic footprint across key global capitals.
The presentation, made on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirms Nigeria’s commitment to robust international engagement and strategic foreign relations.
Among those presented with Letters of Credence are Aminu Dalhatu, appointed as Ambassador to the United Kingdom; Ayodele Oke, designated Ambassador to France; and Jimoh Ibrahim, who will serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
The ceremony was led by the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who conveyed the President’s confidence in the appointees and charged them to uphold Nigeria’s interests on the global stage.
In her remarks, the Minister congratulated the envoys and wished them successful tenures, emphasizing the critical role of the Ministry in advancing Nigeria’s diplomatic, economic, and strategic objectives worldwide.
She noted that the appointments reflect the administration’s resolve to deepen bilateral and multilateral partnerships, promote trade and investment, and enhance Nigeria’s voice in global affairs.
The presentation of Letters of Credence is a key diplomatic protocol that formally authorizes envoys to represent their country in foreign nations and international organizations.
The development marks another step in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to reposition its foreign policy architecture and strengthen its influence within the international community.
