The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has called for enhanced joint operations among the Armed Forces as a critical strategy for defeating terrorism and strengthening national security, during a visit to the Headquarters of Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Vice Admiral Abbas commended officers and men of the Joint Task Force for their courage, resilience, and sacrifices in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North East. He conveyed the appreciation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging the operational successes recorded by the troops in degrading terrorist networks and restoring relative stability in parts of the region.
The Naval Chief stressed that sustained collaboration and synergy among the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, and other security agencies remain essential to consolidating gains against insurgency and preventing a resurgence of terrorist activities.
Reaffirming the Nigerian Navyās commitment to the North East theatre, Vice Admiral Abbas highlighted the Navyās robust presence on the Lake Chad waterways, noting significant progress in reopening critical water routes. He said the efforts are aimed at restoring livelihoods, boosting socio-economic activities, and improving access for communities affected by years of insurgency.
He further assured that the Navy would continue to work closely with sister services and the Borno State Government to sustain peace, stability, and development in the region.
The visit underscores the Federal Governmentās renewed resolve to strengthen joint military operations and maintain pressure on terrorist elements, while supporting recovery and normalcy in the North East.
