Abuja – The Presidency has firmly debunked viral claims circulating on social media alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary (PPS), Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 25, 2025 and received by AWC, the Presidency described the report as false, misleading and entirely unfounded, urging Nigerians to disregard it in its entirety.
No Change at the Presidency
According to the statement, Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola continues to serve as Principal Private Secretary. There has been no replacement or reshuffle involving the two officials.
“The viral report is a fabrication by mischievous purveyors of fake news whose sole aim is to create disharmony within the government,” the Presidency said.
Warning Against Fake News
The Presidency cautioned media organisations and social media users against the reckless spread of unverified information, stressing that such actions undermine public trust and national stability.
It reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparent communication, adding that any major decisions or changes within the government would always be officially communicated through recognized channels.
Call for Responsible Information Sharing
Nigerians were advised to rely on credible sources and official statements for information relating to government affairs, particularly at a time when misinformation spreads rapidly online.
The clarification, released via State House Digital, underscores the Tinubu administration’s resolve to counter fake news promptly and maintain focus on governance under its Renewed Hope Agenda.
In clear terms, the Presidency’s message was simple: there is no vacancy in the office of the Chief of Staff—Femi Gbajabiamila remains firmly in charge.
