Construction and rehabilitation works on the Kazaure–Daura Federal Highway (A124) are recording steady progress, marking a significant boost to transportation infrastructure linking Jigawa and Katsina States.
The strategic highway, which connects Kazaure in Jigawa State to Daura in Katsina State, is being supervised by the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator (Engr.) David Umahi, CON, and is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving road safety, easing mobility, and strengthening inter-state connectivity.
Spanning an estimated 60 to 70 kilometres, the Kazaure–Daura corridor serves as a vital transport route for residents, traders, and farmers across the two states. Upon completion, the road is expected to significantly enhance the movement of agricultural produce, reduce travel time, and lower transportation costs, thereby stimulating trade and economic activities in adjoining communities.
The project is also anticipated to improve safety for road users by addressing long-standing challenges associated with poor road conditions, while opening up rural areas to greater commercial and social interaction.
The steady pace of work on the highway reaffirms the government’s commitment to delivering durable, high-quality infrastructure that supports inclusive growth, regional integration, and sustainable development across the country.
As construction continues, stakeholders in Jigawa and Katsina States have expressed optimism that the completed highway will serve as a catalyst for economic expansion and improved livelihoods across the region.
