Abuja, March 14, 2026 — Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has paid glowing tribute to mothers across the country in celebration of Mother’s Day, commending their love, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment to nurturing families and building the nation.
In a message released on Sunday, the First Lady praised mothers for the countless roles they play in shaping homes and guiding future generations, noting that their efforts often go unnoticed but remain invaluable to society.
Senator Tinubu said while mothers are known for making significant sacrifices for their families, it is often the small and quiet moments of care and devotion that truly define motherhood.
“Today, I honour and celebrate every mother across Nigeria. Your love, care and sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” she said.
“Beyond the big sacrifices, it is the small, quiet moments that truly define a mother’s love. On this special day, we carry those moments in our hearts and say thank you for the warmth and love you selflessly give.”
The First Lady described mothers as heroes of the nation, acknowledging their role in nurturing, guiding, and instilling values in children who will become the leaders of tomorrow.
She also urged mothers to continue to play their vital role in shaping the moral and social fabric of society by teaching and guiding children with wisdom, strength, and compassion.
“I implore our mothers to continue to teach and guide the children, passing down wisdom and strength that would benefit future generations,” she added.
Senator Tinubu further prayed for long life and fulfilment for mothers across the country, expressing hope that they would live to enjoy the fruits of their labour through their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mother’s Day is celebrated globally to recognise the contributions of mothers and maternal figures in families and communities.
The First Lady concluded her message by wishing all mothers in Nigeria a happy Mother’s Day.
