President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday swore in Tunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, ushering in what the Presidency described as a new chapter for the Nigeria Police Force.

The brief but significant ceremony, held at the State House, marked the formal assumption of office by the new police chief, who pledged renewed commitment to strengthening national security and deepening professionalism within the Force.

President Tinubu charged the new Inspector-General to prioritise improved intelligence gathering, effective crime prevention strategies, and community-based policing to enhance public confidence in law enforcement.

According to the Presidency, the appointment signals the administration’s resolve to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency, accountability, and service delivery. The President emphasised the importance of restoring public trust through ethical conduct, discipline, and respect for the rule of law.

Tunji Disu, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in him, assuring Nigerians of his readiness to work with relevant stakeholders to tackle emerging security challenges across the country.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by senior government officials, security chiefs, and aides of the President.

The event underscored the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to reinforce internal security architecture and promote stability nationwide.
