Nigeria Deepens Counter-Terrorism Cooperation with UK, German
Maiduguri — February 19, 2026 — Nigeria has reinforced its expanding international security partnerships following high-level visits by the Defence Attachés of the United Kingdom and Germany to the Headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri.
During the engagements, Brigadier Tom Harper reaffirmed Britain’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts through the British Military Advisory Team, focusing on training, technical assistance, and operational coordination. Similarly, Colonel Boris Bovecamp discussed prospects for enhanced collaboration in capacity building and regional security cooperation.
The Theatre Commander, Abdulsalam Abubakar, commended both countries for their sustained contributions to strengthening the Nigerian Armed Forces’ operational capabilities. He emphasized that continued international collaboration remains vital to consolidating gains in the fight against terrorism and restoring lasting peace in the North-East region.
