Nigerian Army Overruns Terrorist Camp, Recovers Arms Cache in Kogi Stat
LOKOJA, KOGI STATE – Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have recorded a major victory in the ongoing fight against insurgency, successfully overrunning a notorious terrorist camp in Kogi State.
The operation, conducted under the banner of Operation IGBO IDANU I, has significantly disrupted the criminal network linked to the elusive kingpins Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu.
Applying strategic, advanced and tactical surprise, the clearance operation was personally led by the Commander of the 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi.
To achieve tactical surprise, the troops dismounted and advanced on foot through some of the region’s most challenging terrains.
According to military sources, the soldiers navigated through:
Dense forests and marshy grounds.
Multiple riverine obstacles and river crossings.
Natural blockades, including fallen trees, which were used by the terrorists to slow down any potential military advance.
Despite these constraints, the resilience of the troops forced the terrorists to abandon their stronghold and flee in disarray upon sighting the approaching force.
This led to recovery of arms and ammunition following the capture of the enclave. A thorough search resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of military-grade hardware.
Military analysts state that the seizure of this ammunition is a “decisive strategic blow,” effectively degrading the terrorists’ ability to launch coordinated attacks or sustain prolonged engagements in the North-Central region.
This effort shows commitment to lasting security. The captured camp was systematically destroyed and set ablaze to ensure it cannot be reoccupied by fleeing elements.
Brigadier General Sidi praised the professionalism of his men and reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army remains committed to its mandate of protecting communities and restoring peace.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo commended the 12 Brigade for their bravery, noting that such successful operations are vital for maintaining the safety of residents and encouraging economic activities in the state.
Troops are currently maintaining a high state of alertness, conducting aggressive patrols and “mop-up” operations in the general area to prevent any attempt by the terrorists to regroup.
