In a strategic move to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) have begun discussions aimed at forging a robust inter-agency collaboration that will strengthen the country’s media and technology ecosystems.
The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, played host to the Director General of NBC, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, as both agencies explored synergies in digital innovation, regulatory modernization, and capacity development within Nigeria’s rapidly evolving media landscape.
At the heart of the engagement was a shared commitment to empowering local media, enhancing cultural impact through technology, and ensuring that regulatory frameworks remain adaptive, forward-looking, and fit for purpose in the digital age. The collaboration is expected to promote effective knowledge transfer and align regulatory approaches with emerging global best practices.
NITDA outlined proposals to support NBC through the sharing of its digital transformation playbook, delivery of tailored capacity-building and technical training programmes, enrolment of NBC personnel in digital literacy initiatives, and provision of expert guidance to modernise regulatory systems.
Both agencies reaffirmed their resolve to work closely in advancing Nigeria’s digital economy, leveraging technology as a catalyst for innovation, responsible broadcasting, and sustainable national development, in line with the Federal Government’s digital transformation objectives.
