President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Dr. Adewale Bashir Adeniyi, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, describing the milestone as a celebration of decades of dedicated service, professionalism, and impactful leadership.
In a goodwill message marking Dr. Adeniyi’s birthday on January 19, the President commended the Customs boss for his unwavering commitment to excellence and for instituting landmark reforms that have repositioned the Nigerian Customs Service for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Under Dr. Adeniyi’s leadership, the NCS has recorded notable improvements in revenue generation, strengthened community relations, and enhanced Nigeria’s trade engagement with other countries. These reforms, the President noted, have contributed significantly to transforming the Service into a more responsive and globally competitive institution.
President Tinubu also highlighted Dr. Adeniyi’s growing international stature, referencing his election in June 2025 as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), a development widely seen as a major boost to Nigeria’s image and influence within the global customs community.
According to the President, the Comptroller-General has continued to positively project Nigeria and Africa on the world stage through inclusive, practical, and charismatic leadership, earning respect beyond the country’s borders.
As Dr. Adeniyi marks his 60th birthday, President Tinubu offered prayers for renewed strength, sound health, and wisdom, urging him to sustain his service to the nation and his contributions to global customs administration.
The milestone has been widely regarded as both a personal celebration and a testament to the impact of purposeful leadership in public service.
