President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a full-scale security crackdown to track down and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji Community in Niger State, describing the incident as a direct test of Nigeria’s collective resolve.

In a directive issued on Sunday, 4 January 2026, the President instructed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to ensure that the perpetrators are hunted down and swiftly brought to justice. He also mandated security agencies to urgently rescue all abducted victims, particularly women and children.

The attack, which led to the killing of several villagers and the abduction of others, is believed to have been carried out by terrorists fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara States following a United States air strike on Christmas Eve.

President Tinubu strongly condemned the assault on the Kasuwan Daji community, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, as well as to the Government and people of Niger State.

“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down,” the President declared. He further warned that anyone who aids, abets, or enables criminal elements in any form would also be caught and prosecuted.

Assuring residents of Niger State of the Federal Government’s commitment to their safety, President Tinubu said security agencies have been directed to intensify operations around vulnerable communities, especially those close to forests that have long served as hideouts for criminal gangs.

The President also called on Nigerians to remain united and resolute in the face of the tragedy, cautioning against divisive rhetoric that could undermine national security and cohesion.

“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary, and reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” he said.

The renewed security push, according to the Presidency, underscores the administration’s determination to restore peace, protect citizens, and dismantle terror networks threatening lives and livelihoods across the country.
