No Hiding Place for Criminals, Says Governor

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has issued a strong charge to newly trained operatives of Operation Rainbow, urging them to rise decisively to the challenge of insecurity and help restore lasting peace across the state.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of Operation Rainbow graduands in Jos, Governor Mutfwang described insecurity as the greatest threat to Plateau’s unity, economy and social harmony, stressing that the state can no longer afford half measures in confronting criminality.

“Plateau Must Be Safe Again”

The governor reminded the graduands that they were trained at a critical moment in the state’s history, marked by persistent attacks, communal tensions, banditry and criminal violence in parts of Plateau.

“You are not graduating into comfort,” Mutfwang said. “You are graduating into responsibility. Plateau people are looking up to you to help reclaim their communities from fear.”

He emphasized that Operation Rainbow, as a community-based security outfit, occupies a strategic position in intelligence gathering, early warning and rapid response, especially in rural and flashpoint areas.

Zero Tolerance for Compromise

Governor Mutfwang warned the operatives against compromise, abuse of power or collaboration with criminal elements, declaring that any act of misconduct would be met with severe sanctions.

“There must be no room for compromise, indiscipline or corruption,” he stated. “Your loyalty must be to Plateau State and to the innocent citizens whose lives you are sworn to protect.”

Complementing Federal Security Agencies

The governor noted that Operation Rainbow is designed to complement the efforts of the military, police and other federal security agencies, not to replace them. He urged the graduands to work in synergy with existing security structures while respecting the rule of law and human rights.

According to him, security is a shared responsibility, and the success of Operation Rainbow will depend largely on community trust, professionalism and credible intelligence.

Investment in Security Architecture

Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Plateau’s security architecture through continuous training, improved welfare, logistics and modern equipment for operatives.

“Our government will continue to invest in your capacity because the peace of Plateau is non-negotiable,” he said.

A Call to Courage and Service

As they were formally inducted, the governor urged the graduands to see their assignment not merely as a job, but as a call to service and sacrifice, reminding them that the safety of lives and property now rests partly on their shoulders.

“With courage, discipline and integrity,” he added, “you can help write a new security story for Plateau State.”

The event was attended by senior government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers and community leaders, who expressed optimism that the newly deployed operatives would strengthen grassroots security and help stem the tide of violence across the state.
